|14.00-15.30||THE FUTURE OF SIMULATIONS + Q&A
This keynote will attempt to explain why a physicist like myself embarks on a journey from quantum mechanics, over space-mission design and computer science, to finally end up at DreamWorks Animation. Along the way we shall touch on topics like technology transfer from academia, as well as the art and compromises of developing tools for visual effects in movie production. Examples will focus on volumetric effects and data structures for fire and fluid animations, fracture and destruction tools, as well as cloud modelling – all showcased through personal experiences from live-action, commercials and feature animation.

About the general pipeline of Legends of Valhalla -Thor. Consenquences of S3D upgrade in the middle of the production. Necessary S3D development and creation. Render pipeline and development using Softmage and Arnold. Arnold Shading development. Procedural environment creation.
|17.00-17.55||ASSET MANAGEMENT + Q&A
The terms “Asset”, “Digital Asset”, and “Asset Management” are in common and regular usage in visual effects and animation facilities all over the world, but what exactly are Digital Assets and how and why do you need to manage them? In this session, we will offer a definition for these terms and describe how to add value and increase production efficiency by creating, tracking and exploiting useful and meaningful relationships between Digital Assets. Finally, we will discuss Asset Management strategy and how good Digital Asset Management can help you increase studio productivity without compromising quality.
|18.00-18.55||WHAT IS OPENCOLORIO AND WHAT IT CAN DO FOR YOU + Q & A
In this first session, we will get an idea of what problem OpenColorIO is designed to solve and we will see some of the solutions in action, like showing OpenColorIO handling color in different applications, e.g., Nuke for instance.

Day 2 – Sunday 13th November, 2011
|Time||Topics and Activities|
|10.00-10.55||DEEP COMPOSITING + Q&A
Deep Image Compositing is a new workflow being introduced as a way of resolving current limitations with depth compositing. This presentation will breath insight into the evolution of deep images for compositing, introduce attendees to the main concepts and provide an overview to apply the workflow to ones own pipeline.http://www.fxguide.com/fxguidetv/fxguidetv-118-rise-of-the-apes-nuke-plugins/

In this session I will show how Gimpville used HD Sculpting in ZBrush, procedural tools in Houdini and Mantra to create the extremely detailed troll terrorising the Norwegian highlands. We will also touch upon some of the VFX animation and rendering challenges we overcame during production.
